Apps are a great way to help you get in shape, but there are so many to choose from. So, where do you begin? Over the past couple of years, Aprille and I have tried several and we have compiled our top choices just for you! And the best part? They’re all FREE!

Aprille’s Top Picks: 

Charity Miles is an app that will donate money to a charity of your choice based on how many miles you walk, run, or bike by tracking your mileage on your GPS. We would love to have you join our Faithful Fitness team on Charity Miles by searching for #faithfulfitness and adding that to your teams. I am walking for the Wounded Warrior Project but there are over 25 charities to choose from, including Autism Speaks and cancer charities.

Map My Walk and Map My Run will also track your mileage with your GPS, as well as give you your pace and other statistics. You can also have an online account and add other workouts to your profile by inputting them manually.


Katie’s Top Picks:

Runtastic includes all kinds of great exercises. Everything from playing tennis or frisbee to walking, biking, running, hiking – you name it! The app also tracks elevation, miles walked, your favorite routes, the calories you’ve burned, and lots more!


Nike Training Club If you are award-oriented or goal-driven, this is the app for you! NTC offers more than 100 full-body workouts, workout programs, and milestones for each minute you commit to getting fit.

My Fitness Pal logs not only your calories and weight, but also the vitamins, nutrients, and minerals you need each day. It tells you where you are depleted and where you are going overboard which is so great! As mothers, we need lots of energy, which starts with a balanced diet.

Also, Aprille has some awesome songs that will motivate you to move!

Oh, it was so hard to pick just just a handful to share with you! I could easily make a list twice this long! When it comes to workout music, some songs I pick because the lyrics inspire me – others, I just need something catchy and upbeat to motivate me. So, pardon my cheesiness with some of these.

    Hahaha! I have like six of those songs on my work out mix! And the charity miles app is definitely something I will look into. That would definitely motivate me to walk a lot! Now all I need is a smart phone.
